The NPP of chief minister Conrad Sangma is leading in 26 of the 60 seats, compared to the BJP's 3 seats and the Congress's 7, which is a significant loss for the party.

Mukul Sangma, the TMC's leader, is up against a strong challenge in Songsak, where he is only ahead by 165 votes, while he is well behind in Tikrikilla.

According to Conrad Sangma, his party is still short of a few seats needed for a majority and would decide on a course of action following the results.

In Mairang, UDP candidate Metbah Lyngdoh defeated HSPDP candidate Shakliar Warjri by 155 votes, and in Mawthadraishan, Shakliar Warjri defeated cabinet member Brolding Nongsiej by 2,353 votes.

TMC is in the lead on five of the 56 seats it ran for, and BJP is in the lead on five, three more than in the previous election.

Sniawbhalang Dhar of the NPP defeated Emlang Laloo of the Congress by 2,123 votes to win the Nartiang seat.

Only 5 seats, or 16 fewer than in the previous election, are in Congress' favour, and celebration preparations are in progress at CM Conrad Sangma's home.

In accordance with recent patterns, exit poll forecasts gave NPP the most seats, followed by Trinamool Congress, BJP, Congress, and United Democratic Party.
