Samsung Electronics revealed Thursday it has started tasting a 16GB Graphics Double Data Rate 6 (GDDR6) DRAM including 24-gigabit-per-second processing speeds.

The new high-speed memory chips for graphics cards are built on Samsung's third-generation 10-nanometer class procedure using EUV innovation and...

... are created to ramp up graphics efficiency for the next generation of graphics cards, AI-based applications, and server and network infrastructure for high performance computing systems.

Samsung says its 24Gbp/s GDDR6 DRAM is engineered with an ingenious circuit style to reduce information leak with an advanced insulating product, High-K Metal Gate.

Samsung says its 24Gbp/s GDDR6 DRAM is engineered with an ingenious circuit style to reduce information leak with an advanced insulating product, High-K Metal Gate.

It will deliver 30% faster speeds than its 18Gbp/s predecessor that was introduced in Jan. 2018.

When incorporated with a premium graphics card, the GDDR6 DRAM will move up to 1.1 TB of data per second.

The company developed it to be compliant with JEDEC standards and to work with a broad variety of GPU styles and makers.

In the future, the new GDDR6 lineup will consist of low-power alternatives that use dynamic voltage changing innovation .

Samsung says it will supply 16Gbps and 20gbps variations with roughly 20% higher power efficiency at 1.1 V, compared to the 1.35 V GDDR6 market standard.

Samsung mentions it is addressing these more recent uses cases with the GDDR6's abilities for...

...smooth 4K and 8K video playback along with support for AI accelerator workloads where greater bandwidth and lower latency are crucial.

The business forecasts double-digit growth in the worldwide DRAM market in the years ahead.

"With our industry-first 24Gbps GDDR6 now sampling, we look forward to validating the graphics DRAM...

... on next-generation GPU platforms to bring it to market in time to satisfy an attack of brand-new need."

Samsung is starting consumer confirmations this month and plans to bring the GDDR6 to market to refer GPU platform launches.
